I have recently come back from the trip of a lifetime to India. None of the Indian food I have had in Edinburgh comes close to the food I have had in India (and I have eaten in a lot of Indian restaurants here in my time!). This place changes that. It is the most authentic Indian food I have had outside India. Highlights were the paneer butter masala, Hakka noodles and dahi vada. I didn't even get to eat the chilli chicken as my partner wolfed it down and proclaimed it delicious ! Will definitely be back!

I've ordered from this restaurant twice and been really happy with the food and service. The staff and owners are extremely friendly and helpful. The food is great! Having been to Kolkata I can confidently say the food is authentic. I'd highly recommend this restaurant.

The best place to visit if you are craving for some of your Kolkata favorite dishes. We had Kolkata Biryani, Peas Kochuri with Aloor Dom, Fish Fry, Veg Chop, Dhokar Dalna, Shahi Polao. All items were true to the Kolkata flavor and very delicious.

The place is very well decorated and give a vibe of modern small Kolkata cafes.

And lastly, but most importantly - Deb and his wife are amazing host.

A definite recommendation from my side if anyone is missing or like to try out some good Kolkata dishes.

Chicken Biriyani, Special Shahi Sweet Polao

Amazing "home kitchen style" Indian food! This place is absolutely phenomenal. Every dish tastes like it has been lovingly made with skill and care and is absolutely delicious. Real deal Kolkata flavours and cooking style. Would especially recommend anything they do with lamb on the bone.

We had been searching for a good Indian, specifically Bengali Indian restaurant, for quite some time before finding this restaurant. And when we did, we knew we struck gold.

Key talking points—

Service:- Order the day before you eat. Gives you plenty of time to pick and choose. You can pick up the food from the kitchen or ask for delivery.

Taste:- The chilli chicken was in fact spicy, and the biryani was nothing short of extraordinary. The pieces of meat were well cooked too.

Quantity:- Picture this, enough chilli chicken in one order to sustain two meals (one main, one side). Plenty of food per plate.

Price:- Maybe high, but willing to trade that for the taste and quality. Quantity was fair for the price.

My partner and I had a wonderful little dinner at Morich Kitchen. Half my family is from Kolkata and I’m pretty familiar with the food from the city/West Bengal. It’s so lovely to find a place that serves food that tastes just like home halfway across the world. Every dish was cooked with love and care. Every effort was made to create an atmosphere of warmth. This is absolutely a family-run, no frills, little establishment with absolutely banging food. Not much of a dine-in place but it isn’t meant to be, however, there’s a little table where you can wait/eat. We got my personal favs from back home; chicken egg roll, fish fry, vegetable chop. We also got the dahi bara, which im not usually a fan of but was soooo good here. I cannot wait to try more of their menu. Excited to be back soon.

Authentic Bengali food that is delicious and super tasty! Never had this type of food and it was refreshing to see such a place in Edinburgh with different food. My favourite was the chicken egg paratha and dahi bara!

A taste of Calcutta in Edinburgh. Authentic and delicious Bengali food.

So pleased I found this place. It was like being back home in Calcutta.

The only place I've ordered from where the Chicken biryani tasted *exactly* like in Calcutta. Same with the Chicken chaap and the onion pakora. The chicken rolls were delicious too.

Looking forward to trying their other dishes as well.

Morich Kitchen had not long opened when I ordered takeaway. While my order took a while to prepare, the food was delicious and the owners seem really knowledgeable and friendly. Would recommend it highly and it’s a nice addition to the local restaurant scene in Leith.

Incredible food, so tasty, full of flavour and authentic. We ordered a mixture of different dishes and loved every single one. Loved the option that you could choose how spicy you wanted each dish as we could cater to those who wanted hot & mild.

Treated ourselves to a delicious, authentic meal from Morich Kitchen. We very much enjoyed it. Biriani was our favourite. Lots of nice spices. The bhajis were really good as well. Well done.

I find Morich Kitchen’s food delicious. They cook authentic Indian/Bengali food which is very rarely to be found in Edinburgh. They are prompt in their service delivery and flexible for any amendments. Their varieties of menu cater to all foodies.

Absolutely amazing!! Flavour of authenticity was pouring in every dishes. We have ordered veg chop, crispy baby corn, sahi chicken, chicken chap, chanar dalna and malpoa. Everything was so flavourful. If anyone looking for authentic Bengali food, I would highly recommend this place.

We tried Morich kitchen at a friend’s house for the first time and experiencing that scintillating authentic taste thousands of miles away from home is an absolute blessing for foodies like us. When they say they believe in quality & quantity- i assure you they mean it.
